Mr. Tonko said that those suffering from mental health and substance use disorders often face uncoordinated care because of social stigma, and wants to promote integrated care through altering 42 CFR Part 2, which limits the sharing of data of patients who are in substance abuse treatment programs, according to the report.
Mr. Tonko and Mr. Murphy created a proposed EHR system that “allow[s] the sharing of substance use records on a patient with a single consent form throughout a medical system or hospital,” reports Health Data Management.
