CMS releases final ICD-9 update.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services have released the final ICD-9-CM updates, which will take effect on Oct. 1, 2013. The updates, covering several areas, are free for download on the CMS website.

61 percent of providers expect ICD-10 testing to take 9 to 12 months.
Though a large number of providers have not been testing for ICD-10 despite the upcoming deadline, 26 percent of providers have said their organization has completed an impact assessment, according to a Qualitest Group report. Of the responding providers, 61 percent said they expect ICD-10 testing to take nine to 12 months.

CMS Administrator assures Congress exchanges will open as planned.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Marilyn Tavenner has reassured Congress that the health insurance exchanges established by the PPACA will open by the Oct. 1 deadline. The insurance rates for the federal exchange will be released in September.

AAAHC Accredits Robinwood Surgery Center.
The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care has granted Robinwood Surgery Center in Hagerstown, Md., accreditation. The multispecialty center performs more than 5,000 annual procedures.

House votes to repeal PPACA for 40th time.
On Friday, the House of Representatives voted on the repeal of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act for the 40th time. The vote will be one of the last before the 113th Congress adjourns for the summer.

Dr. Robert Tyrrell acquires Dayton surgery center.
Robert Tyrrell, MD, a board-certified diagnostic radiologist, has acquired Midwest Vein & Laser, a surgical center focused on treating vein conditions, in Dayton, Ohio.

North Shore-LIJ Health System to add surgery center at Glen Cove Hospital.
North Shore-LIJ Health System intends to add an ambulatory surgery center at Glen Cove (N.Y.) Hospital. The health system also plans to begin phasing out the hospital’s inpatient beds beginning in January 2014.
