4 key statistics on how physicians are being paid

There are more ways physicians are paid beyond just the straight salary, according to the Medscape Employed Doctors Report: Are They Better Off? report.

Here are four statistics on payments:

1. Straight salary: 46 percent
2. Base salary plus productivity targets/Formula only: 33 percent
3. Base salary plus productivity targets/Formula plus bonus ladder: 13 percent
4. Other: 8 percent

Among those who had productivity targets, 39 percent were satisfied; 27 percent were unsatisfied.
