DJO launches 1st outpatient arthroplasty risk assessment tool

Medical technology provider DJO released the industry’s first risk assessment tool for confirming outpatient joint replacement pathways, OaraScore.

Here are three notes:

1. OaraScore is intended to help providers assess appropriate postoperative length of stay and minimize readmission rates after total joint arthroplasty.

2. The tool is geared toward rapid discharge programs in the wake of CMS’ decision to remove total knee arthroplasty procedures from the inpatient-only list.

3. OaraScore was developed in partnership with Fishers-based Indiana University Health Saxony Hospital physicians R. Michael Meneghini, MD, and Peter Caccavallo, MD.
