Biolase entered a non-binding agreement to exclusively market and sell S-Ray’s ClearView Scan, an ultrasound-based intraoral imaging system. Here are five highlights.

1. S-Ray designed ClearView Scan to provide supplementary radiation-free imaging for soft-tissue not detected by radiographs.

2. ClearView Scan enables dentists to capture more frequent images, gather more diagnostic information and use real-time imaging during procedures. It also allows physicians to visualize important structures during more invasive procedures.

3. Biolase and S-Ray’s non-binding agreement is a memorandum of understanding, subject to the negotiation and execution of a definitive agreement.

4. S-Ray will commit a significant amount of funds for market development of the device, starting in the Southern California dental market.

5. “Historically, when new diagnostic technologies like the S-Ray ClearView Scan system are deployed, more non-symptomatic diseases are identified much earlier in the disease progression,” said Samuel Low, DDS, Chief Dental Officer of Biolase. “This can enable a breakthrough in dentistry as dentists begin to recognize the near-epidemic level of gum disease and the need for treatment before there is pain, loss of teeth and oral systemic involvement.”
