Mississippi outpatient center is 1st to use ROSA robotic device — 3 insights

The country’s first outpatient knee replacement using robotic assistant ROSA was performed last month at Jackson-based Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center, The Northside Sun reports.

Three insights:

1. Trevor Pickering, MD, performed a left total knee replacement using ROSA on May 28.

2. The robotic assistant uses X-rays to map the knee for preoperative planning.

3. ROSA is designed to eliminate the need for a CT scan or MRI — saving money and time — and accelerate patient recovery.
