During the third quarter, LASIK and photorefractive keratectomy surgeries were up 50 percent compared to the same time last year, the report said. For the month of October, that figure is up 119 percent.
Jim Principi, director of operations, gave glasses fogging from face masks as one possible reason more people are seeking LASIK, the report said. He also pointed out that people may have more money from canceled vacations this year.
Other area practices have seen similar surges in the elective surgery, the report said.
