Here’s what you should know:
1. The one-room surgery center will be about 5,000 square feet.
2. Virginia’s Health Department must issue its decision by January 2019.
3. RVCS operates a two-room, ophthalmology-focused ASC in Salem and a one-room, ophthalmology-focused ASC in Roanoke, Va.
4. RVCS wants to build a surgery center in Wytheville so residents wouldn’t have to travel far for eye surgery.
5. RVCS CEO Paul Levy said, “It is an effort we are undertaking to better serve our patients from Wytheville, Galax (Va.) and nearby areas. A new surgery center will enable our physicians to focus on expanding patient care in the region while giving those we serve a more convenient option for care.”
