New ASC Development

Atlanta-based Emory Healthcare is building a musculoskeletal institute that features a surgery center. 

The state of California has awarded UC San Diego Medical Center $30 million in funding, which the hospital will use to redevelop its Hillcrest campus, the Times of San Diego reported July 24.

Medford, Mass.-based Lawrence Memorial Hospital opened a 15,000-square-foot surgery center in partnership with local healthcare providers and surgeons from seven physician practices, WickedLocal.com reported July 22.

Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Apricus Health is opening the Surgery Center of Avondale (Ariz.), according to a July 21 LinkedIn post. 

Memphis, Tenn.-based OrthoSouth hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on the expansion of its Germantown (Tenn.) Surgery Center, according to a June 20 LinkedIn post.

From New York to Texas, here are four joint-venture ASCs opened or announced in the past month:

University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington filed a conceptual certificate-of-need application for an ASC on July 16, Vermont Biz reported.  

Virginia Eye Consultants and partner ophthalmology network CVP opened an ASC, according to a July 19 LinkedIn post. 

The Genesis HealthCare System of Zanesville will break ground July 23 on a $45 million medical center with an ASC in Coshocton, Ohio, the Coshocton Tribune reported. 

Construction is underway on Vancouver (Wash.) Clinic's $70 million ambulatory surgery center.
