Five details:
1. The development won’t begin until officials foresee overcapacity being a concern, Lakeview Hospital President Ted Wegleitner told the Pioneer Press.
2. In the meantime, Lakeview Hospital will focus on expanding existing facilities and services such as cardiology, oncology and gastroenterology.
3. Officials had planned to develop a 96-bed, three-story hospital, a surgery center, senior housing, and a medical office building. Some work has already been done at the construction site, including debris removal.
4. The hospital acquired 68 acres for the project from Crescent Development and farmer Paul Bergmann. Mr. Bergmann will continue farming on the property “until we’re ready to develop or he decides otherwise,” Mr. Wegleitner said.
5. The property will be ideal when expansion becomes necessary at some point in the future, Mr. Wegleitner said.
