Five highlights:
1. The East Alabama Healthcare Authority of East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Ala., plans to invest about $33.7 million to build and own the facility.
2. The medical office building will include an ASC, a freestanding emergency department and a pharmacy, offering orthopedic, endoscopy, ophthalmology, radiology and ENT services.
3. It will be located in the 171-acre Auburn (Ala.) Research Park.
4. The Auburn City Council is considering whether to contribute $2 million with annual payments of $200,000 to the project. The annual payments would be made over a 10-day period.
5. Auburn University and the Auburn Research and Technology Foundation will cover the estimated $11 million in infrastructure costs.
