The Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board’s six members unanimously backed a written decision explaining the rationale for approval.
Quincy-based Blessing Health System requested a written decision May 14, after the board had approved QMG’s certificate of need application.
In a statement to The Herald-Whig, QMG CEO Carol Brockmiller said: “We were confident the board would affirm the April 30 decision today by approving the written decision and were not surprised by Blessing’s request for a written decision. It is a formality allowable by the process and seems to reveal continued opposition of our new surgery center. Nevertheless, we continue to receive overwhelming and unwavering support from community members, leaders, patients and others and that is what we’ll remain focused on as our work on the new surgery center continues.”
