Sen. Rand Paul performs pro bono cataract surgery

Rand Paul, MD, R-Ky., was part of a pro bono cataract surgery at Innovative Ophthalmology’s eye surgery center in Paducah, Ky., the Paducah Sun reports.

1. Dr. Paul joined Barbara Bowers, MD, in surgery, through the Surgery on Sunday program.

2. Surgery on Sunday recruits physicians to perform surgeries for patients who may not be able to afford them.

3. Dr. Bowers has participated in the program since 2012.
