ASC leader to know: Dr. Steven Gunderson of Rockford Ambulatory Surgery Center

Steven Gunderson, DO, is an Ambulatory Surgery Center of Association of Illinois board member. He is also the CEO and administrative medical director of Rockford (Ill.) Ambulatory Surgery Center. The surgery center has five operating rooms and two procedures rooms.

With a healthcare career spanning more than 30 years, Dr. Gunderson has held numerous leadership roles. He was the vice chairman and department of anesthesiology chairman at Swedish American Health System in Rockford.

He is a surveyor for the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care and past vice president and secretary of the Illinois Freestanding Surgery Center Association. He is a past board of director member of the Federated Ambulatory Surgery Association, the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care and Board of Ambulatory Surgery Certification.
