Lensar appointed ophthalmologist Richard Lindstrom, MD, to its board of directors, effective immediately. Here are four highlights.
1. Dr. Lindstrom serves as an attending surgeon at Bloomington, Minn.-based Minnesota Eye Consultants, which he founded. He is an adjunct professor emeritus at the University of Minnesota Department of Ophthalmology in Minneapolis.
2. Dr. Lindstrom specializes in corneal, cataract, refractive and laser surgery.
3. A subsidiary of PDL BioPharma, Lensar develops femtosecond cataract laser technology for refractive cataract surgery. Lensar's Laser System with Streamline IV has been FDA approved for anterior capsulotomy, lens fragmentation and corneal and arcuate incisions.
4. "The refractive cataract business is poised for disruption and explosive growth over the next few years as the global population ages and patient demands for high performance visual outcomes increase with the availability of new pharmaceuticals and medical devices," Dr. Lindstrom said. “I firmly believe Lensar leads the field in innovation, speed to market and customer support.”
