The open-access system allows patients to fill out a brief form online to request the desired procedure. Clinical staff review the request and call within five to seven business days to schedule the appointment, if all criteria are met.
Criteria, according to the hospital’s website, include:
• Age 50 to 75
• Age 45 for African Americans
• Age 40 to 49 for patients who have a first-degree relative with colon cancer 50 years old or younger
• No previous problems with anesthesia
• No anticoagulant drugs
• No significant comorbidities
• No chronic narcotics use
• No GI symptoms
