UChicago Medicine names director of endoscopic research center

University of Chicago Medicine named Uzma Siddiqui, MD, the director of its Center for Endoscopic Research and Therapeutics, according to the university.

Interventional endoscopist Dr. Siddiqui joined UChicago Medicine in 2012 and became a professor of medicine in 2020. She became the associate director of CERT in 2015. 

She succeeds Irving Waxman, MD, the founding director of the center. CERT is dedicated to minimally invasive GI care and performs more than 3,000 interventional endoscopic treatments each year.

Dr. Siddiqui specializes in endoscopy procedures related to pancreaticobiliary disease and GI oncology.
