2. More gastroenterologists are employed — 53 percent — than self-employed, which reflects a national trend toward physician employment.

3. More than half — 57 percent — of employed gastroenterologists are not seeking promotion.

4. Over three quarters of surveyed gastroenterologists reported spending 10 or more hours per week on paperwork and administration.
