SAGES announces 2024 ‘Shark Tank’ winner

San Francisco-based Diatiro Health has won the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons’ 2024 “Shark Tank” competition.

SAGES, an organization representing more than 7,000 U.S. surgeons, recognized Diatiro for creating a breakthrough-designated device that ensures kidneys remain optimally cold during transplants, according to a May 7 society news release shared with Becker’s

Backed by the National Kidney Foundation, Diatiro’s device is designed to boost the success rate of kidney transplants and make previously unusable organs viable. 

SAGES’ competition supports clinicians focused on commercializing their innovations through investment capital. Diatiro was awarded $30,000 for winning the competition. 

Other 2024 finalists were Exero Medical, EZ Suture Systems and Global Hospital.
