ProVation MD Query Tool for Streamlined GIQuIC Submission Released

Wolters Kluwer Health has announced the release of a query tool that, as part of ProVation MD for gastroenterology procedure documentation and coding, streamlines the collection of quality data for the GI Quality Improvement Consortium Ltd. (GIQuIC) benchmarking initiative.

The query tool also allows for collection of data in an approved format that can then be submitted to GIQuIC, according to a news release.

GIQuIC is a national GI endoscopy data repository of endoscopy quality measures. Data in it will be used to provide benchmarking reports, identify and address care gaps and collect data for use in outcomes studies and other quality initiatives.

"Gastroenterologists are under growing pressure to demonstrate that they are providing quality patient care, as well as to improve efficiencies and increase productivity," said Thomas M. Deas, Jr., MD, FACG, FASGE, director and vice president, GIQuIC, in the news release. "Participating in the GIQuIC benchmarking initiative allows them to produce the evidence they need to respond to the quality demands. Thanks to the efforts of vendors like ProVation Medical, the processes for doing so will not negatively impact practice efficiencies. That was our goal; to make data submission as simple and streamlined as possible."

ProVation MD, which is available for a full range of specialties, replaces dictation and transcription and allows physicians to document procedures at the point of care.
