Omeprazole is the most frequently prescribed gastroenterology prescription, according to April 13 data from Definitive Healthcare, making up 17.60 percent of all prescribed GI medications.

The top 15 most prescribed GI medications and the percentage of prescriptions: 

1. Omeprazole: 17.6 percent 

2. Pantoprazole sodium: 17.3 percent 

3. Famotidine: 5.8 percent 

4. Suprep: 5.6 percent 

5. Dicyclomine HCI: 3.8 percent 

6. Linzess: 3.1 percent 

7. Sucralfate: 2.7 percent 

8. Dexilant: 2.1 percent 

9. Esomeprazole magnesium: 2 percent 

10. Mesalamine: 1.8 percent 

11. Gavilyte-G: 1.8 percent 

12. PEG 3350-Electrolyte: 1.7 percent 

13. Budesonide: 1.2 percent
