Medical Societies, Celebrities, Legislators Join Fight Against CRC

In light of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, notable individuals are joining together in the fight against colorectal cancer.

The American Cancer Society has partnered with journalist Katie Couric, who lost her husband to colorectal cancer, to launch a high-profile campaign that aims to increase the number of people undergoing colorectal cancer screenings, according to a MassDevice news report.

In Maine, Gov. Paul LePage and the Maine Colorectal Cancer Control Program are leading the fight against cancer in the state with the launch of Turning Maine Blue, which aims to increase colorectal cancer awareness and screenings, according to a WABI news report. A partnership between fashion designer Carmen Marc Valvo, a colorectal cancer survivor himself, the Colon Cancer Alliance and Dulcolax aims to achieve those same goals, according to a CCA news release.
