1. In major markets, adults between 40 and 49 years old have the highest prevalence of IBS, followed by adults between 30 and 39 years old.
2. Patients 80 years old or older had the fewest number of diagnosed IBS cases.
3. In the U.S., IBS rates increased up to when patients were 49 years but decreased significantly afterwards. In Europe, IBS rates increased through the age of 59 years followed by a slight decline.
4. GlobalData believes there will be 25 million-plus cases of IBS in the U.S. by 2026. Analysts believe IBS rates are growing at an annual growth rate of 0.31 percent per year. In Europe, GlobalData anticipates IBS increasing at a rate of 0.20 percent through 2026.
