A study reviewed by experts at the university found there was no overall increase in colorectal cancer risk for people with an average intake of up to 1 drink per day. But the risk increased to 21 percent for those who drank an average of up to 49.9 grams of alcohol a day, and it rose to 52 percent for those who drank 50 or more grams per day.
However, results were not broken down according to type of drink, such as wine or beer.
