Here’s how GI physicians weighed in:
1. Forty-six percent of gastroenterologists said physicians should be subjected to random testing for drug and alcohol abuse.
2. Eleven percent of physicians surveyed said they would perform a procedure that may be medically unwarranted because of malpractice fears, with one GI physician saying, “Yes. Sometimes you fear missing something and it can become an issue later.”
3. Twenty-seven percent of physicians said they thought it was ethical to date a patient six months to a year after they stopped being a patient.
