1. The societies creating an alternative option to the American Board of Internal Medicine 10-year exam and two-year check-in system, in response to gastroenterologists’ complaints.
2. The societies want the proposal to be “less onerous, more relevant, less costly and less time-consuming.”
3. Society leaders met with ABIM leadership Oct. 4 in Philadelphia to discuss preliminary ideas.
4. The societies and ABIM agreed to develop a third option.
