She began her career after earning her medical degree from Hamilton, Canada-based McMaster University. She stayed at the university for her internship, residency and fellowship.
At UC San Diego, Dr. Crowe serves as the director of research. She previously held professional appointments at several other universities.
Dr. Crowe’s research centers on the interaction of luminal contents with gastrointestinal mucosa that leads to inflammatory diseases and epithelial cancer.
She has represented the AGA for more than 20 years. She will become the organization’s president later in 2017.
