Genetic factors play a role in pediatric UC

UCLA researchers have discovered that a number of genetic factors may play a role in the development of early-onset ulcerative colitis, according to a Medical Xpress report.

Researchers hope that the identification of genetic factors may lead to new pathways for treating pediatric UC.

Researchers from UCLA and Pusan National University in South Korea also developed an animal model that mimics early-onset UC. This animal model may be used to test new UC drugs.
