Dr. Bhesania is a surgeon at Huron Surgical Clinic, Port Huron, Mich., and received his medical degree from the University of Western Ontario in 1993. He completed his surgical residency at St. John Hospital in Detroit. Dr. Bhesania was the first surgeon in Michigan to perform lap-band surgery and has been involved in lap-band research studies. Dr. Bhesania is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
Dr. Boutt has been on staff at Saint Joseph Mercy Hospital since 2002 and provides general and bariatric surgical services through the Huron Surgical Clinic. He obtained his medical degree from Wayne State University in 1997 and completed his general surgical residency at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in 2002. Dr. Boutt is a member of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
The Michigan Bariatric Institute will open on Jan. 23 on the hospital’s main level. Tammy Kwarciak, RN, has been named director of bariatric services at Saint Joseph Mercy Port Huron and will lead the center. The center will provide surgical services and other medical treatments.
