Gastroenterologists Join New Loyola Division of Hepatology

Loyola University Health System in Maywood, Ill., and the Stritch School of Medicine have established a new division of hepatology, according to a news release.

Five new physicians are joining the division, including gastroenterologists Scott Cotler, MD, and Jamie Berkes, MD, who are both coming from the University of Illinois Hospital and Health Science System.

 

Dr. Cotler has been named division director of hepatology of LUHS and professor for SSOM. Dr. Berkes will serve at Loyola as medical director of liver transplantation.

 

The other three physicians joining the expanding hepatology team are Eric Kallwitz, MD, Natasha Walzer, MD, and Steve Scaglione, MD. Drs. Kallwitz and Walzer come to Loyola from the UIC medical center while Dr. Scaglione comes from the University of Michigan Health System. Like Drs. Cotler and Berkes, they are all board certified in internal medicine, gastroenterology and transplant hepatology, according to the release.
