Here are three highlights from the study.

•    Boston Scientific’s Fully Covered WallFlex Biliary RX Stent was successfully removed via endoscopy in all 155 patients included in the study.
•    75 percent of patients exhibited stricture resolution without the need for restenting.
•    Of the patients that had stricture resolution, 85 percent remained stricture free after a mean follow-up of 20 months.

The researchers concluded that fully-covered self-expanding metal stents are an effective alternative to plastic stents.
