FDA recommends removing older Fujifilm duodenoscopes from clinical use

The FDA recommends clinical practices stop using several of Japan-based Fujifilm Medical Systems’ older duodenoscopes.

Here’s what you should know.

The FDA recommended a halt to using the following duodenoscopes:

1. ED-250XL5
2. ED-250XT5
3. ED-450XL5
4. ED-450XT5

Fujifilm notified customers using the scopes to stop using them. The company will replace any of the duodenoscopes, corresponding accessories and offer training and support to customers at no cost.

Fujifilm recommends replacing any scopes that show signs of damage to avoid any risk of spreading infectious agents.
