Colonoscopy associated with significant colorectal cancer mortality reduction among veterans

Colonoscopy is significantly associated with colorectal cancer mortality reduction, according to a case-control study of Veterans Affairs-CMS administrative data in the Annals of Internal Medicine.

Colonoscopy is widely used in the VA healthcare system for colorectal cancer prevention.

The study found colonoscopy was associated with significant reductions in veterans' colorectal mortality. Colonoscopy was associated with greater benefit for left-sided cancer than right-sided cancer.
