As part of the program, representatives from the units attended an ASGE Recognition Course, “Improving Quality and Safety in Your Endoscopy Unit.” Units also have to prove they are accredited by the AAAHC or Joint Commission, sign a form confirming they set ASGE and CDC guidelines as minimum requirements of the unit policy and pay an application fee.
The ASGE Endoscopy Unit Recognition Program recognizes endoscopy units that promote quality in endoscopy by following ASGE guidelines on privileging, quality assurance, endoscopy reprocessing and CDC infection control. The 35 endoscopy units join 307 that have already been honored for their dedication to quality in the field.
