Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare and the HCA Healthcare Foundation are extending their collaboration with the American Heart Association’s Getting to the Heart of Stroke initiative with $3.9 million in new funding and support.
The program, launched in 2022, focuses on the link between cardiovascular disease and stroke to improve prevention, treatment and outcomes, according to a Sept. 10 news release from the health system.
Since its start, the initiative has reached more than 200 million people with education on atrial fibrillation and stroke risk, partnered with 160 community organizations and improved care quality at participating hospitals.
HCA facilities have reported a 33% increase in identifying causes of stroke through expanded use of diagnostic testing and care team collaboration, according to the release.
In its fourth year, the program will expand to all 43 HCA comprehensive stroke centers while continuing to strengthen community-based interventions targeting blood pressure control, nutrition security and maternal health.
