Cardiology groups request tariff deferrals on radiopharmaceuticals

The American Society of Nuclear Cardiology and the American College of Cardiology submitted joint comments asking for tariffs on radiopharmaceuticals to be delayed until domestic sources can be established. 

The development of a domestic supply of molybdenum-99 has been a priority for years, but the U.S. still does not have a supply, according to a May 12 news release from the ASNC. 

The Department of Commerce recently launched an investigation to determine the impact of importing pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical ingredients on national security.

At the conclusion of the investigation, the department will make its recommendations to President Donald Trump, the release said.
