Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera, Calif., has successfully performed its first procedure using the Medtronic Harmony transcatheter pulmonary valve.

Led by interventional cardiologist Teresa Evans, MD, PhD, the minimally invasive procedure allows for pulmonary valve replacement via catheter, avoiding the need for open-heart surgery. The Harmony valve is designed for patients with native outflow tracts and enables faster recovery, with many patients discharged the next day, the Sierra Sun Times reported.

The procedure marks a significant advancement for children with congenital heart defects, offering a less-invasive treatment option while expanding capabilities in pediatric cardiac care.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
