Phoenix-based Tri-City Cardiology Consultants experienced a security breach where an attempt was made to infiltrate its computer network, according to a May 19 report from The HIPAA Journal.

The cardiology group warned 22,753 patients about the breach, which occurred on or around April 6. Immediate action was taken to secure the network once the breach was identified.

The unauthorized third party may have accessed or obtained names, health insurance information and protected health information.

Tri-City Cardiology found no evidence to suggest that its network was accessed specifically to obtain patient data, the report said.
