These are the highest paying states for physicians & RNs

Medical professionals such as registered nurses and general practitioners earn more on West Coast than those who work elsewhere, according to Eligibility.com, an informational website for government sponsored healthcare programs such as Medicare and Medi-Cal.

Eligibility.com analyzed Bureau of Labor Statistics data from May 2018 to compile its report.

Four things to know:

1. The highest paid RNs work in California, earning an average of $106,950 per year. RNs working in South Dakota earn the lowest average salary of $58,340.

2. General practitioners are paid the most in New Jersey, where they earn on average $264,470 per year. General practitioners earn the least in Rhode Island at $175,250.

3. On average, RNs earn $75,510 per year, and owe $30,000 in education debt.

4. General practitioners earn $211,780 per year and owe $190,000 for medical school debt.
