Envision Q3 ambulatory services revenues hit $309.4M; reduced by hurricanes Harvey, Irma
Greenwood Village, Colo.-based Envision Healthcare reported its financial results for the third quarter of 2017 and noted the company's operations were disrupted by hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Envision's net revenues in the ambulatory segment totaled $309.4 million for the quarter. The company estimates the hurricanes reduced ambulatory services revenue by $3 million.

Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island strategically aligns with Florida private equity firm
Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island formed a strategic alignment with Florida-based private equity firm Blue Sea Capital. OCLI operates Westbury, N.Y.-based Island Eye Surgicenter, a new surgery center with six operating rooms. The ASC has the ability to perform 20,000-plus procedures per year.

Accomplished gastroenterologist, former AGA president Dr. Marvin Sleisenger passes away
Former American Gastroenterological Association President and Gastroenterology Editor Marvin Sleisenger, MD, 93, died Oct. 19. Dr. Sleisenger was the editor of Gastroenterology from 1965 to 1970. He was also AGA's president in 1976.

Connecticut teaching hospital, Woodland Surgery Center surgeons joint venture on orthopedic ASC
Hartford, Conn.-based St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, a 617-bed teaching hospital, and Lighthouse Surgery Holdings, known as Woodland Surgery Center, filed a certificate of need to build an orthopedic and pain ASC. As per the deal's terms, St. Francis would own 35 percent of the ASC; Woodland Surgery Center would hold the remaining 65 percent share.

Tenet expects to lose $366M in Q3 — Company to eliminate 1.3k positions
Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare reported net losses of $366 million in its preliminary third quarter fiscal year 2017 results. Tenet is renegotiating its supplier and vendor contracts and eliminating 1,300 positions in the company. Tenet expects to eliminate positions across its hospital, ambulatory and conifer business segments.

Kaleida Health files CON to add new procedure at Southtowns Surgery Center
Buffalo, N.Y.-based Kaleida Health filed a certificate of need to add lithotripsy, a non-invasive technique to treat stones in the kidney and ureter, at Orchard Park, N.Y.-based Southtowns Surgery Center. Kaleida Health owns 51 percent of Southtowns Surgery Center. Sixteen physicians own the remaining 49 percent.

How much New Mexico Medicaid patients could pay for outpatient & inpatient surgery
The Human Services Department held a public hearing discussing the possibility of New Mexico Medicaid patients paying copays and premiums Oct. 30. New Mexico currently is $38 million short in covering its Medicaid costs. For outpatient and inpatient surgery, copays could cost $50 per day.
