Here are three things to know about the potential changes to Virginia’s CON program.
1. Three Virginia House of Delegates members are introducing eight legislative actions focused on the CON program.
2. The delegates are Kathy Byron (R-Bedford), John O’Bannon, MD, (R-Henrico) and Christopher Peace (R-Hanover).
3. Delegate O’Bannon, a practicing neurologist, proposed a three-part plan that would eliminate the majority of the CON program over three years. The first part of the plan would eliminate CON regulation for imaging services, the second would eliminate CON regulation for ASCs and the third would remove regulation for hospitals and all other categories, according to the report.
