Three Surgery Center Applications Denied for Virginia’s Isle of Wight County

The Virginia health commissioner has denied applications for three proposed surgery centers in Isle of Wight County, Va., according to a report in The Virginian-Pilot.

Bon Secours Hampton Roads Health System, Sentara Healthcare and Riverside Health all had plans for surgery centers in the county, but the commissioner said the area already had a surplus of ORs.

The Virginia Department of Health’s Office of Licensure and Certification had issued a recommendation to deny approval of the surgery centers in December.

The projects were to cost $2 million to $3.7 million, according to report.
