Tenet ambulatory net revenue reaches $397M — 22 things to know about Tenet’s Q4, 2015 results

Ambulatory segment
1. On a pro forma basis, Tenet’s ambulatory segment generated net operating revenue of $397 million, up nearly 29 percent from $308 million in the same period of 2014.

2. For the full year 2015, the ambulatory segment delivered net operating revenue of nearly $1.3 billion, a 17.8 percent increased from $1.1 billion in 2014.

3. Tenet’s revenue in the ambulatory segment increased 12.5 percent, with cases increasing nearly 7 percent and revenue per case increasing 5.2 percent on a pro forma same-facility system-wide basis in the fourth quarter of 2015.

4. The company’s ambulatory segment had an adjusted EBITDA of $158 million during the fourth quarter on a pro forma basis, up 17.9 percent from the fourth quarter of 2014.

5. For the full year 2015, the ambulatory segment delivered adjusted EBITDA of $489 million on a pro forma basis, up 14.5 percent from $427 million in 2014.

6. Tenet generated adjusted net income from continuing operations of $35 million, or $0.35 per share, during the fourth quarter of 2015.

7. Tenet reported adjusted EBITDA of $613 million for the quarter, down 5.1 percent compared to $646 million in the fourth quarter of 2014.

8. During 2015, the company had adjusted net income from continuing operations of $208 million, or $2.05 per diluted share.

9. For the quarter, Tenet reported a net loss attributable to common shareholders of $97 million, or $0.98 per diluted share.

10. For the full year, cash and cash equivalents totaled $356 million.

Conifer Segment
11. For the fourth quarter, Conifer’s revenue increased to $384 million, a 17.4 percent increase from $327 million in the fourth quarter of 2014.

12. Conifer generated Adjusted EBITDA of $61 million in the fourth quarter of 2015.

Hospital Operations and Other Segment
13. Tenet’s net operating revenue in the hospital operations and other segment increased 5 percent to nearly $4.4 billion in the fourth quarter of 2015.

14. Net patient revenue reached $3.992 billion on a same-hospital basis from the quarter, up from $3.966 billion in the same period the year prior.

15. Net operating revenue increased 8 percent to $16.928 billion during 2015, up from $15.681 billion in 2014.  

16. Tenet’s net patient revenue increased 5.5 percent to nearly $15.7 billion during 2015.  

17. For the fourth quarter, adjusted EBITDA was $394 million, down 28.8 percent as compared to $553 million in the fourth quarter of 2014.

2016 Outlook
18. The company expects to deliver revenue of $18.8 billion to $19.2 billion during 2016.

19. During 2016, Tenet expects to deliver adjusted EBITDA of $2.4 billion to $2.5 billion, and adjusted earnings per diluted share of $1.18 to $2.25.

20. The company expects to deliver adjusted free cash flow of $400 million to $600 million in 2016, compared to $405 million in 2015.

21. Tenet expects to deliver revenue of $4.7 billon to $4.9 billion during the first quarter of 2016.

22. During the first quarter of 2016, the company expects to deliver adjusted EBITDA of $550 million to $600 million and adjusted earnings per diluted share of $0.05 to $0.54.
