Tenet adds 2 independent directors: 4 takeaways

Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare Corp. added two independent directors to its board of directors: John P. Byrnes and Peter M. Wilver.

Here are four takeaways:

1. Mr. Byrnes is the former chairman and CEO of Lincare Holdings, based in Chicago.

2. Mr. Wilver serves as the executive vice president and chief administrative officer of Waltham, Mass.-based Thermo Fisher Scientific.

3. With the two additions, Tenet’s board features 14 directors. Of these, 13 directors are independent of Tenet.

4. Both Mr. Byrnes and Mr. Wilver will serve on the company’s audit committee, with Mr. Byrnes also being a member of Tenet’s nominating and corporate governance committee. Mr. Wilver will serve on Tenet’s human resources committee.

They also bring a strong combination of financial and operational skills, as well as significant public company experience at both the board and management levels.
