Stamford ASC’s physician-owners hand the reins to orthopedic group — 3 insights

Stamford (Conn.) ASC is transferring ownership from its multiple physician-owners to Greenwich, Conn.-based Orthopaedic & Neurosurgery Specialists, according to documents filed by the Connecticut Office of Health Strategy.

Three insights:

1. Stamford ASC’s physician-owners were also owners of ONS, which is fully controlled by a Connecticut-licensed physician.

2. Stamford ASC and ONS planned to begin the transfer after receiving the Office of Health Strategy’s determination that no certificate of need was required. OHS gave that determination April 25.

3. The reorganization won’t change Stamford ASC’s service offerings or payer mix. It will remain entirely physician-owned.
