Sentara closing medical center, ASC in Kitty Hawk — 6 key notes

Norfolk, Va.-based Sentara Healthcare is closing its Regional Medical Center and the Kitty Hawk ASC, both in Kitty Hawk, N.C., The Outer Banks Voice reports.

Here’s what you should know:

1. The health system closed a separate ASC and an imaging center in late August, but decided this week to not reopen them.

2. In addition, Sentara is closing its family medicine, orthopedic and sports medicine, OB/GYN and surgical medical practices in Kitty Hawk.

3. Sentara cited the condition of the medical center as one of the reasons behind its decision to close the facilities.

4. Sentara shares the building with other tenets, serving as landlord. Those tenets will continue to operate out of the building.

5. The Kitty Hawk facilities will close Dec. 15.
