Presbyterian Healthcare Services expands outpatient services; City panel approves medical center: 5 things to know

Santa Fe (N.M.) Planning Commission granted New Mexico-based Presbyterian Healthcare Services approval to build a 30-bed medical center, increasing the health system's ability to expand its outpatient services, according to Santa Fe New Mexican.

Here are five things to know:

1. The $135 million complex will consist of two phases. The first phase includes adding outpatient services, outpatient and general surgery, specialty clinics, emergency services, urgent care centers as well as orthopedics, podiatry, physical therapy, orthopedic and speech therapy.

2. Presbyterian Healthcare Services plans to open the first phase in the summer of 2018. It will be 485,000 square feet.

3. The health system will also build a 147,000-square-foot parking garage and will offer services including ear, nose, throat and infusion services; pulmonary; rheumatology; urology and integrative medicine.

4. Presbyterian Healthcare Services anticipates the initial payroll with be $14,494,221, with that figure increasing to nearly $24 million over three years.

5. The City Council can appeal the commission's decision.
