Palmetto Primary Care Physicians’ future ASC plans on hold for now: 4 points

Nearly three years ago, North Charleston, S.C.-based Palmetto Primary Care Physicians, an outpatient physicians group, filed plans to open a $22.8 million facility featuring an ASC. However, those plans failed to come to fruition, the Post and Courier reports.

Here are four points:

1. The proposed facility would have featured an ASC, an urgent care facility and two medical office buildings.

2. The group withdrew its plans in 2015 by removing their certificate-of-need application to affiliate with a partner, a spokesperson said to the Post and Courier..

3. The spokesperson said to the Post and Courier Palmetto Primary Care Physicians will make a decision concerning the surgery center’s future plans at a later date.

4. Palmetto Primary Care Physicians is holding a groundbreaking ceremony on Feb. 22, 2017, for a new medical campus’ first phase in Nexton, S.C. The $32 million project will feature primary care, specialty care, urgent care services and an imaging center and lab.
