North Carolina board approves Triad Center for Surgery’s $7.2M ASC — 3 insights

The N.C. Division of Health Service Regulation approved Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Triad Center for Surgery’s ASC proposal, the Winston-Salem Journal reports.

1. Triad will open a $7.2 million ASC with two operating rooms and three procedure rooms.

2. The North Carolina board had previously approved the Triad center, but Winston-Salem-based Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center appealed. Concurrently, Wake Forest sought state approval to add four operating rooms under North Carolina’s certificate of need program. The state approved a two-OR addition, which Triad then appealed.

3. The state ultimately settled the matter, allowing Wake Forest Baptist to add four operating rooms and Triad to add two.
