WellStar has already received the certificate of need for the new ASC, which would be included in a new health park project, but Northside has appealed the certificate. Administrative hearings are scheduled for this summer, according to the report.
WellStar plans to invest $80 million into a roughly 250,000-square foot facility — called East Cobb Health Park — that would include the surgery center and other services, according to earlier reports.
WellStar hopes to open East Cobb Health Park, which would not be attached to a hospital, in summer 2013.
